In 1975 a group of architecture students at the University of Sheffield collaborated with local residents to produce the first Broomhill Festival, celebrating life in this historic and attractive suburb of the city.
Now the Broomhill Festival runs every year in early June, and has done now for many years. Organised by volunteers and sponsored by local businesses the festival supports around five charities each year. The charities are chosen by the festival committee in advance and all receive an equal part of the proceeds collected by the festival.
Last year the festival raised over £17,000, which was divided between five charities. The 34rd Broomhill Festival runs from Tuesday 10th June until Sunday 22nd.
